To mitigate early citation volatility, this list by default only includes publications with at least 2 years since publication date, allowing for more stable comparisons across scientific fields.
To avoid overemphasizing statistically fragile cases (e.g., papers in fields with very low global citation counts), only publications with Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) ≥ 1 are highlighted. This ensures that featured articles have met or exceeded the world average impact for their field and year, making “Top 1% / 5%” designations more robust and comparable across disciplines.
As emphasized by FCT and international recommendations (e.g., DORA), bibliometric indicators (citations, percentiles, FWCI, JIF, etc.) should not be used in isolation as proof of scientific quality. They may be influenced by artificial phenomena (such as paper mills or citation cartels) and show strong variation across fields and publication profiles. Nevertheless, when considered together and in context, they remain a valuable tool to understand impact and recognition.
