Luís Reis has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the field of Production Technologies from the University of Coimbra in 2016 and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a speciality of Production Systems in 2011 from the University of Coimbra. He had the Certificate of Pedagogical Competence (CCP) since 2015, training in Team Management, and has been a Full Member of the Order of Engineers since 2016. In 2024, he attended the “Training Course for Teaching in Distance Learning”, integrated into the international network ENID-Teach - European Network in D-Flexible Teaching. He is the author and co-author of more than ten articles in specialized journals, papers in event proceedings, one article in a newsletter, and more than eight items of technical production. He was co-author on the report on fires in Portugal in 2020. In his research activity, he has collaborated with the University of New South Wales (Australia), the University of Sassari (Italy), the Technical University of Munich (Germany), State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS), among others. He supervises and collaborates in supporting master's and doctoral students. He participates in more than eight national and international projects. He works in the areas of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering in Computational Mechanics in Technology, Mechanical Design, Technical Drawing, Maintenance, Management, Quality, Mechanical Technology, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. Member of the Smart Cities Research Centre (Ci2). He is Professor at ISEC Lisboa - Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências and ESTA - Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Abrantes.
