Maria Cristina Costa graduated in Mathematics from Universidade de Coimbra, Master Degree in Mathematics from FCT of Universidade de Lisboa, PhD course in Mathematics from ISEG of Universidade de Lisboa, and PhD in Education from FCT Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, specialization in curricular development. Post-doc in STEAM education from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Adjunct Professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT - Portugal), having been Director of the Mathematics Area from 2002 to 2010. Since 2013, the Head of the project “Academy of Science, Art and Heritage” (www.academiacap.ipt.pt), which promotes hands-on activities and teacher training in STEAM and heritage. Coordinates and participates in several national and international funded projects, including the Erasmus + KA2 ProSTEAM; and also STEAM projects, in collaboration with local municipalities (Funded by Centro 2020) and Teacher Training Centres (Funded by POCH). Researcher from Ci2 -Smart Cities of IPT, and CICS.NOVA - Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, participating in projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. Besides mathematics and STEAM, her research interests are related to educational technologies, namely augmented and virtual reality. She publishes papers in international journals and presents her research in national and international conferences, having integrated the scientific and organizing committee of national and international conferences.
